Founded in 1924, Irving Oil is one of Canada’s foremost energy producers and distributors, serving commercial and wholesale customers in North America. Irving Oil and OPIN have embarked on a journey to unify Irving’s digital experience, bringing six distinct websites under a single enterprise Drupal site.
The brand’s presence is scattered across several online properties, serving different purposes and targeting different audiences. Rather than migrating or consolidating the existing sites, Irving Oil was looking to develop a unified digital journey for new and existing stakeholders.

OPIN’s mission was to deliver a platform that would build customer communication and identities across a diverse community in the US and Canada.
As the company’s online presence is fundamental to serving these customers, employees and external stakeholders, the rationale for consolidating multiple websites into one makes a central web presence easier to manage and relevant for all.

The new Drupal 8 site was built using dynamic components, with the objective of empowering the Irving Oil team to manage their digital assets effectively and efficiently.

Branded Drupal 8 site
The mobile-first components were designed to position and scale differently depending on device, platform and even page position. This level of detail ensures that the components are functional across the website and that styling remains on-brand.
Acquia Edge and Lift Hosting
Using Acquia Edge, Irving Oil is able to scale up and down as necessary while adhering to the most sensitive of data compliance regulations and guidelines. Using Acquia’s secure hosting means that Irving’s site achieves resiliency, uptime, and security.
The Irving Rewards was developed as an Angular app with connects to various APIs. This ensures that data is secure up-to-date and accessible by users on any platform. The app has been built as part of a decoupled Drupal solution to seamlessly integrate with the website.
The location finder takes Irving’s customer service to the next level. Irving Oil is enabling customers of any kind to find the information they need when they need it. The tool allows users to track down the nearest fueling stations and sort by such categories as food, amenities, dog parks and more.
